Extortionate school?
Extortionate school?
From Pos Kota
The case as described in Ratna Susanti's letter on June 21 -- if it is true -- is indeed outrageous, because it means the management of the Asyafiiyah 02 primary school in Jatiwaringin, Bekasi, is making a profit by imposing fees under the guise of school examinations and the students' end-of-year party.
By asking parents to pay Rp 385,000, while only reserving Rp 10,000 for the party, the school has been involved in extortion.
The cost of holding the party at the Kartika Chandra Hotel as planned should also be questioned -- why should the event be held there instead of at the spacious school complex?
To avoid suspicion among parents, the school management should act transparently by specifying the funds needed for organizing the exams and the students' party.
