Extortion Case Against Medan District Prosecutor Re-filed with KPK
The extortion case involving Medan District Prosecutor Ridwan Sujana Angsar and contractor Hironimus Sonbay, alias Roni, in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has been re-filed with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today. The report was submitted by Roni’s legal representative, Fransisco Bessi.
“We have officially submitted the report to the KPK and it has been received. We are now awaiting further confirmation,” Fransisco told detikBali on Monday, 25 May 2026.
Fransisco explained that the KPK report is Roni’s and his family’s final hope for justice, including Didik Haryadi Brand, who is also alleged to be a victim of extortion.
“All data from the NTT Provincial Prosecutor’s Office’s Supervisory Assistant (Aswas) has also been submitted to the KPK,” Fransisco stated.
According to Fransisco, the case was previously reported to the Attorney General’s Office, Judicial Oversight (Jamwas), Judicial Intelligence (Jamintel), Judicial Commission (Komjak), and DPR Commission III. However, filing with the KPK is seen as the last resort for justice. The KPK is currently reviewing the report for further action.
“We hope the case becomes clear and transparent now that our report has been received and reviewed, meeting all requirements. We expect the process to proceed so that justice can be achieved by those seeking it,” Fransisco added.
Meanwhile, Ridwan Sujana Angsar has not responded to detikBali’s confirmation requests via message or WhatsApp call.
Previously, allegations of extortion against contractor Hironimus Sonbay, alias Roni, involving Medan District Prosecutor Ridwan Sujana Angsar and NTT Provincial Prosecutor’s Office’s Chief of General Criminal Affairs (Pidum) Noven Verderikus Bulan, were reported to the Attorney General’s Office and DPR Commission III.
Roni Sonbay’s lawyer, Fransisco Bessi, explained that the report was submitted alongside Roni’s sibling on Thursday, 21 May 2026. The report relates to allegations of extortion and ethical violations by the two prosecutors.
“Yesterday, we formally reported the two prosecutors to the Attorney General’s Office, Judicial Oversight (Jamwas), Judicial Intelligence (Jamintel), Judicial Commission (Komjak), and DPR Commission III,” Fransisco told detikBali on Friday, 22 May 2026.
Fransisco said the five agencies responded positively to the report, and he hopes it will be processed further.
“We have received very positive responses from the five agencies,” Fransisco said.
Number of extortion victims rises to two
Fransisco confirmed that the number of alleged extortion victims by the two prosecutors has increased to two: Roni Sonbay and Didik Haryadi Brand. Both have been examined by the NTT Provincial Prosecutor’s Office’s Supervisory Assistant (Aswas).
“This is crucial as there are now two parties who have become extortion victims. Although I am not Didik Haryadi Brand’s legal representative, I have obtained sufficient evidence of extortion,” Fransisco stated.
Fransisco said the evidence of alleged extortion by Ridwan Sujana Angsar against Didik is clear, supported by WhatsApp chat records and a Rp6.7 million hotel payment transfer in Malang.
“It is clear because RA (Ridwan Sujana Angsar) sent the destination account number, Didik made the payment, and the proof of payment was sent and received by prosecutor RA. This proves the individual is problematic as there are now two reports,” Fransisco explained.
