Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto announced the formation of a Special Export State-Owned Enterprise to handle commodities such as coal, palm oil, and ferro alloys. The state-owned enterprise is named PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia.

Transactions by this Special Export SOE will, in the initial phase, run from June 2026. This was stated by the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM and also CEO of Danantara, Rosan P. Roeslani.

“We start from June to December. All export-related transactions are initially on a ‘pelampiran’ basis,” Rosan said at a press conference on the Macro Economy Framework and Fiscal Policy Principles for the 2027 Budget, in the Secretariat of Parliament complex, quoted on Thursday (21/5/2026).

Separately, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed that the policy to manage export of natural resources through the government-designated SOEs will start this year.

Bahlil said that after the SOEs are designated, the companies will undergo a transition, including consolidation and reconciliation of the export transaction implementation.

“Starting this year. So he will do a transition with the SOE that will be designated. After the SOE is designated, he will consolidate and reconcile the implementation of the transactions,” he said after the IPA Convex 2026 event, Wednesday (20/5/2026).

According to him, the policy aims to improve export governance while closing gaps in under-invoicing, under-pricing, and transfer pricing.

To reassure market players and investors concerned about the establishment of the special export body, he assured that export markets already operating overseas will not be disrupted.

“So their markets outside will continue to operate. There are contracts they have had for a year now. Just carry on; it doesn’t mean from now on they will start selling to Danantara. The market can run, but data synchronization and communication with the company designated by Danantara is needed,” said Bahlil.
