Explosives destroy house in C. Java

TEMANGGUNG, Central Java: A house was destroyed and five others were damaged when two sacks containing explosives for firecrackers exploded in Brojolan village, Temanggung district, on Wednesday.

Police said the powder, was stored in the house of Adi Gunawan, 60, was the main component for making firecrackers. They are sold during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadhan and the following Idul Fitri celebration, which falls in December this year.

Gunawan's house was destroyed and five neighboring ones damaged.

None of the houses' occupants were reported hurt and police are still investigating how the explosion occurred. (har/edt)
