Explosions Reported in Southern Iran Amid Fresh US Strikes

Istanbul (ANTARA) - Explosions were reported to have occurred in several regions of southern Iran on Monday morning, according to Iranian media.

The state television station IRIB reported several explosions in Bandar Abbas as well as in Sirik, Qeshm Island and Jask, all in Hormozgan province.

The Mehr News Agency also reported explosions in the southern cities of Bushehr and Kangan.

Hormozgan provincial authorities said no civilian casualties had been reported in the latest attack, according to Mehr.

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had launched additional strikes against Iran, noting that the strikes were intended to further weaken Tehran’s ability to attack civilian sailors and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Regional tensions have risen in recent days amid exchanges of attacks between United States and Iranian forces.

On Sunday (12/7), Iran said it had launched attacks against United States military sites in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and Oman in retaliation for American strikes on a number of targets in Iran.
