Explosions Heard in Iranian Cities After US Attack, Several Civilians Wounded

The United States military has once again attacked Iran in the Strait of Hormuz region. Explosions were heard in several Iranian cities, causing injuries to several residents.

According to CNN International on Wednesday (8/7/2026), Iranian state media reported explosions in the southern region of Iran. Several blasts were heard in the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik, as well as on Qeshm Island.

A number of projectiles reportedly struck a commercial pier in Sirik, a fishing pier in Ziarat Village, and civilian fishing boats in Bandar Abbas. The Iranian state broadcaster, IRIB, stated that a telecommunications tower in Bandar Abbas was also targeted in the attack.

According to IRIB, several people were injured by debris from the strikes on the Sirik pier.

The US military recently announced its latest attacks in the Iranian region on Tuesday (7/7) local time. The strikes occurred after Iran launched missiles at several commercial vessels passing through the strait.

“These US attacks are a response to Iran’s attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz and aim to impose heavy consequences for the targeting and attacking of commercial shipping,” stated the US Central Command, as reported by AFP.

“The aggression demonstrated by Iran is unjustifiable, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire,” it added.

Iranian authorities have also responded to the recent US attacks. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the action is evidence of repeated violations of memoranda of understanding by the US. Iran asserted that it will take firm measures in response to the attacks.

“Iran issues a stern warning regarding the consequences of the violations of agreements committed by America, and will take decisive steps to protect its interests and national security,” stated the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement posted to Telegram by IRIB News.
