Explosion on Banda Aceh-Sabang Ferry Injures 14

An explosion occurred on the ferry Aceh Hebat 2 while it was docked at Ulee Lheu Port in Banda Aceh, resulting in 14 people suffering burn injuries. The blast was heard from the vessel, which serves the Banda Aceh-Sabang route, at around 12.00 WIB. Several victims were evacuated from the ship with burn injuries. Ambulances and a fire engine were deployed to the scene, and the Banda Aceh Police Inafis team was also in attendance. “The explosion occurred in the engine room of the KMP AH 2,” said KN SAR Kresna Captain Supriadi. The ship was docked at the time, preparing to sail again. He stated that the injured victims had been evacuated to the Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital in Banda Aceh, with personnel from the ABK SAR Kresna assisting in the evacuation process. “The number of burn victims is around 14 people,” Supriadi said.
