Explosion at Ponorogo Resident's Home in East Java Kills One Person

A powerful explosion occurred at a resident’s home in Cuet Hamlet, Plosojenar Village, Kauman District, Ponorogo, East Java. One person died as a result of the blast.

The incident took place on Sunday, 1 March 2026 at 17:15 Western Indonesian Time. Several people were reported to have sustained injuries.

Kamituwo (hamlet leader) of Pendem Hamlet, Siswanto, stated that the deceased was a teenager named Rifai, aged 16. The victim died from severe injuries sustained in the explosion at his home.

Siswanto added that when discovered, the victim was still alive and being held by his mother and older sister in front of the house. However, his life could not be saved.

“The victim was still at the front of the house, not yet deceased, just being held by his mother and sister. But ultimately he died because there was no medical assistance,” Siswanto said.

Meanwhile, another victim named Toni, a resident of Morosari, Sukorejo District, was successfully rescued. Siswanto said he immediately took him to Bantarangin Hospital using his own motorcycle.
