Exploring Strategic Investments, Lampung Offers New City to Tourism Areas to Indonesian Real Estate

The Lampung Provincial Government (Pemprov Lampung) together with the Central Board of the Indonesian Real Estate Association (DPP REI) held a business forum to encourage regional development and sustainable investment in Lampung Province on Thursday (7/5/2026).

The forum served as a platform for collaboration between local government and business actors, particularly in the property sector, industrial zones, trade, and strategic regional development.

The Chairman of DPP REI, Joko Suranto, stated that their visit to Lampung was part of the series commemorating REI’s 54th anniversary. He emphasised that every region visited becomes an opportunity to build relations and explore investment potential.

“We came to Lampung as part of the 54th anniversary celebrations. Wherever we go, we build relations. From those relations, communication opens up, and we even explore potentials,” said Joko.

According to him, the business forum was an initial step to directly hear Lampung’s potentials from the local government’s perspective. He assessed that the Lampung Provincial Government is very open to the presence of investors and business actors.

“This first meeting, the governor is very welcoming to our presence here. Before we went down to the region, there were already special discussions. Later, it will be detailed further, and the data will be prepared more thoroughly,” he said.

Joko also revealed that REI requested clarity on licensing timelines as well as a list of assets or areas that can be collaborated on with investors.

One of the potentials deemed attractive is the Tahura (Taman Hutan Raya) area, which is considered to have great opportunities for development.

“For now, what we can see, the Tahura is indeed nicely open and that can be one of the development options,” he added.

Meanwhile, Asisten III for General Administration of the Lampung Provincial Regional Secretariat, Sulpakar, expressed appreciation to DPP REI and all parties who have supported the holding of the business forum.

He said the presence of investors and business actors brings new enthusiasm for Pemprov Lampung to continue pushing for investment growth and regional development.

“This business forum is not just a meeting event, but an important momentum to match regional potentials with real and sustainable investment opportunities,” he stated.

According to Sulpakar, Lampung holds a strategic position as the gateway to Sumatra Island because it is the main route connecting Java and Sumatra Islands.

This position is supported by various important infrastructures such as the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road, Panjang Port, Bakauheni Port, and the development of Raden Inten II Airport.

With this infrastructure support, Lampung is assessed to have great potential to grow as a new economic centre in southern Sumatra.

“Lampung’s economic growth shows a positive trend. Infrastructure continues to develop, industrial zones are starting to grow, the tourism sector is increasing, and investment activities are moving forward,” he said.

However, Pemprov Lampung realises that economic growth cannot rely solely on the primary sector.

Therefore, the local government is encouraging economic transformation through the development of industrial zones, tourism revitalisation, logistics, and the construction of residential areas and new growth centres.

In the forum, Pemprov Lampung also offered several strategic cooperation opportunities to investors and DPP REI. One of them is the development of the New City Bandar Negara covering about 538 hectares, designed with an eco-city concept and flood-free zone.

“This area we prepare as a modern, green, integrated, and sustainable new growth centre,” he explained.

In addition, Pemprov Lampung also offered various potential government-owned assets and lands located in strategic locations, from the Bakauheni area, Katibung, Natar, to around Raden Inten II Airport.

These lands are deemed highly potential for developing commercial zones, housing, hospitality, logistics, trade, as well as tourism areas and waterfront city.

Not only that, Pemprov Lampung is also promoting the development of the Regional Main Market in Rejosari as a regional agricultural commodity distribution centre integrated with industrial zones and national logistics connectivity.

Sulpakar emphasised that Pemprov Lampung is committed to creating a conducive, adaptive, and competitive investment climate through strengthening licensing services and improving government governance.

“We believe development will run faster when government and the private sector can move together in the spirit of collaboration and mutual trust,” he concluded.
