Exploring Phase IV Automated Terminal at Shanghai's Yangshan Port, China
Shanghai (ANTARA) - Shanghai’s Yangshan Deep Water Port has developed into a comprehensive shipping and logistics centre amid China’s initiatives to build Shanghai as an international maritime shipping hub. In the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, Shanghai’s Yangshan Deep Water Port handled 7.45 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) of container throughput, reflecting a 9.1% year-on-year increase. The Phase IV automated terminal at the port is one of the world’s largest single container terminals equipped with advanced integrated automation. This terminal features seven deep-water container berths, 61 automated container yards, as well as dedicated areas for hazardous materials and oversized containers.
