ARTSUBS 2026 invites visitors to explore boundaries in art
With the theme “BORDER, THRESHOLD, BEYOND”, ARTSUBS 2026 invites the public to explore various boundaries in the art world. The theme provides a space to consider how artists explore the limits of expression and the use of materials, while bringing local traditional values into dialogue with developments in global art.
Through this approach, visitors can experience works in a range of media and styles. In addition to paintings and sculptures, the exhibition features installations, new media art and performance art, offering a different experience.
The range of works on display makes ARTSUBS 2026 an option for people interested in art, design, culture and the creative industries. It can also offer those new to contemporary art an opportunity to explore the many forms of artistic expression by Indonesian artists.
More than an exhibition: workshops and talks
The ARTSUBS 2026 experience is not limited to viewing artworks. During the event, ARTSUBS will also host supporting activities, including workshops, talks and gatherings.
These activities give visitors a broader opportunity to learn about art and culture through different experiences.
For art enthusiasts, the programme can be an opportunity to deepen their understanding of contemporary art. For the wider public, ARTSUBS offers an alternative leisure activity that combines entertainment with cultural experiences.
Its location at Balai Pemuda Surabaya also means visitors can include ARTSUBS in an outing in the city centre. With the exhibition running until 8 November 2026, visitors have time to plan a visit around their own schedules.
