Expired SIMs Can Be Renewed Tomorrow Without New SIM, Here Are the Requirements

Drivers whose SIMs expire on Monday, 1 June 2026 need not worry. The Jakarta Regional Traffic Police (Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya) has granted the opportunity to renew SIMs on Tuesday, 2 June 2026 without having to apply for a new one. The policy was implemented as SIM services in Jakarta were suspended on 1 June 2026, which coincided with the national holiday and joint leave for Pancasila Day. “Those holding SIMs expiring on 1 June 2026 may renew them on 2 June 2026 through the renewal process,” stated Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya. Services suspended include the Daan Mogot SIM Office, DKI Jakarta SIM Units, DKI Jakarta SIM Kiosks, and mobile SIM services. SIM issuance and renewal services will resume on Tuesday, 2 June 2026. However, this renewal opportunity applies only to SIM holders whose validity expires on 1 June 2026 and who renew on 2 June 2026. Those who do not utilise this opportunity must follow the new SIM issuance procedure. Regarding fees, SIM renewal regulations are set under Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020 on Police Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). The renewal fee for Class A SIMs is Rp80,000, while Class C SIMs cost Rp75,000. Additional costs include a medical test fee of between Rp25,000 and Rp50,000, and a psychological test fee ranging from Rp50,000 to Rp100,000. Thus, total renewal costs typically range from Rp150,000 to Rp230,000, depending on the location and policies of the relevant SIM office or clinic. SIM renewal can be processed either in person or online. Requirements for SIM renewal include: - Presenting the old SIM. - Bringing the original and photocopy of the ID card (KTP). - Undergoing a physical health test (eyesight, hearing, physical condition). - Undergoing a psychological test (concentration, emotion, personality). - Submitting health and psychological test certificates.
