Expert says Prabowo's policy transformation beginning to show results

Public Policy and Economics Expert Anzori Tawakal has assessed that the policy direction of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration is on the right track, although the results of the transformation require process and time to deliver optimal impact to the public.

“The policies are already correct, they need process and time, the results do not appear suddenly. Yet even now, with only 21 months elapsed, the results are already visible across various sectors,” Anzori said in Bengkulu on Friday.

According to him, this assessment is based on various policies during the 21 months of the Prabowo-Gibran administration that have addressed strategic issues, ranging from food, energy, health, education, investment, housing, to infrastructure development.

He said a number of programmes are beginning to show results that can serve as a basis for observing the direction of the government’s transformation, although implementation still requires evaluation and refinement in several sectors.

“Our food self-sufficiency programme has achieved food self-sufficiency within the targeted four-year timeframe. In fact, food self-sufficiency was already achieved in the first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration,” he said.

Beyond food, Anzori assessed that energy policy through the development of B50 demonstrates the government’s efforts to reduce dependence on foreign energy sources.

He said the downstreaming policy is also part of the economic transformation that requires time to show its optimal impact.

In the education sector, the government has begun expanding transformation through the development of people’s schools, excellent schools, and improving the quality of education at various levels.

“At the implementation level, it does require synchronisation, coordination, synergy and collaboration between ministries, agencies and regional governments,” he said.

Anzori assessed that evaluation needs to be carried out continuously to ensure that policies that have not progressed according to target can be promptly corrected.

The government, he said, needs to maintain policies that have shown results while improving areas that still have shortcomings.

He said economic transformation and human development cannot produce comprehensive change in a short time. The impact requires policy continuity and consistent implementation.

According to him, the success of the transformation is ultimately measured not only by the number of programmes implemented, but by the ability of those programmes to produce tangible benefits for the public.

“This is what we see as Mr Prabowo’s strength. Personally and as an observer, I see Mr Prabowo’s strength is that he is firm, clear, and even tough in fighting for the people’s interests,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto, in his state address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives and the Regional Representatives Council at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8), stated that the government has implemented 121 transformative policies during 21 months in office.

The President said these policies were implemented to resolve various national issues, including problems that have persisted for decades.

The policies mentioned include food self-sufficiency, simplification of fertiliser regulations, energy self-sufficiency through B50, the nutritious meals programme, downstreaming, and social assistance.
