Money laundering law expert Yenti Garnasih has questioned the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) investigators’ failure to follow up on questioning Customs Director-General Djaka Budhi Utama in the alleged bribery case involving Blueray Cargo. It is known that Djaka’s name appears in the indictment during the trial.

‘When there is an indictment and defendants, why is the name left unaddressed? Has he even been summoned as a witness? He should be called as a witness, as his name is clearly stated in the indictment,’ Yenti said on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Yenti expressed surprise at the KPK investigators’ handling of the Blueray Cargo bribery case, noting that despite Djaka’s name being mentioned, it remains unclear whether he has been questioned by the agency.

‘How does the KPK operate when someone is named in an indictment—has the person been questioned or not? We can question the transparency, how has the process unfolded so far?’ she explained.

Yenti stressed that the KPK should have questioned Customs Director-General Djaka as a witness in the case, adding that he should have been examined from the outset since his name appears in the indictment.

‘It is absurd for prosecutors to indict without confirming with the person named. This is strange—what is going on? In my view, this is alarming and distressing, unless the name was spontaneously mentioned by a witness. Here, the name is already in the indictment, not suddenly surfaced,’ she stated.

Yenti also emphasised that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa should oversee the situation, given his legal department and the Customs agency’s own investigators. She noted that Purbaya, with a background in finance and financial engineering, may not be well-versed in legal matters.

‘Even as a layperson, he should know the Director-General has been named in the indictment. To clean house, the official should be suspended or removed from his post. It is unacceptable for someone named in such a case to remain in office, which is detrimental to all,’ she said.
