Expert Reveals Psychological Condition of Four TNI Members Who Threw Acid on Andrie Yunus, Here Are the Results
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - TNI psychologist Colonel Arh Agus Syahrudin revealed the psychological conditions of the four defendants in the acid-throwing case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, while appearing as an expert witness at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Thursday (7/5/2026).
It is known that the four defendants are members of TNI BAIS, namely Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
In the examination of Sergeant Two Edi, Agus stated that the defendant has limitations in thinking flexibility, tends to be impulsive, and is less effective in solving complex problems.
Additionally, Agus mentioned that Edi regrets his actions after the attack on Andrie Yunus caused significant repercussions.
“There appears to be considerable remorse due to the action’s broad impact, not only on the individual concerned but also on the victim, family, and institution. That is the profile from the psychological results for Sergeant Two Edi,” Agus explained.
Meanwhile, based on the psychological examination results for First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto, the defendant’s analytical ability is assessed as not very high, thus lacking mature consideration in acting or solving problems.
“His personality tends to be less warm in relationships, formal, with minimal empathy, and there is a tendency towards impulsivity with weak self-control,” he revealed.
Although no pathological indications were found, Budhi’s thinking process and personality pattern are said to have potential for risky behaviour.
For the examination results on Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, Agus stated that the defendant’s thinking process prioritises practical solutions over in-depth analysis in decision-making and problem-solving.
“His personality is independent, rigid, ignores emotional closeness, and is more task-oriented. No pathological indications were found, but the personality pattern has potential for risky behaviour,” he explained.
From the psychological tests, Nandala is also said to regret the action that impacted the victim, family, and institution.
“For First Lieutenant Sami Lakka, from the examination results, it can be concluded that the individual’s psychological thinking process is simple and practical. His personality shows a low and narrow social interest,” he explained.
Previously, four Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel were charged with throwing acid at KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus in Central Jakarta.
The four defendants are Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
“The defendants assessed that Mr Andrie Yunus had insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” said Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps Hukum (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi during the trial at Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
The four defendants are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023.
