The Indonesian Legal Practitioners and Experts Association (Petisi Ahli) has highlighted the developments in the handling of an alleged corruption case related to coal procurement being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortas Tipikor) of the National Police. Petisi Ahli President Pitra Romadoni Nasution stressed that their focus includes the search actions at several locations linked to the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). Pitra stated that his party is scrutinising the Jampidsus’s statement acknowledging that the searched house was his private residence, while asserting that the money found has an accountable owner. He conveyed that if the money found in the house truly does not belong to the Jampidsus but to another party, then in the interest of upholding the principles of transparency and accountability, the mechanism of the money’s safekeeping should be clearly disclosed to investigators. “If it is true that the money does not belong to the Jampidsus, but rather to another person who entrusted it, then this needs to be explained openly to the investigators,” Pitra said in a statement on Friday, 10 July 2026. “The identity of the owner, the basis for the entrustment, the time of entrustment, the purpose of the entrustment, and supporting evidence must be submitted so as not to cause speculation among the public,” he added. According to him, the mechanism of entrusting assets or large sums of money to an individual, especially a law enforcement official, is something that must be legally explicable if there is indeed a legitimate legal relationship. Petisi Ahli also urged all parties not to intervene in the investigation process and to leave the evidentiary process entirely to the investigators based on valid evidence in accordance with statutory regulations. “A state of law must stand on the principles of transparency, accountability, equality before the law, and respect for an objective legal process,” Pitra said. “Whoever is examined must receive equal treatment before the law,” he concluded.
