The team’s composition is considered strategic because its members have direct experience in handling complex corruption cases and understand well the high evidentiary standards required to bring a case to prosecution.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Legal expert Professor Romli Atmasasmita is optimistic and has high hopes that the Team of Nine will complete the investigation into the case of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah.

This is because, he said, most members of the nine-member team of selected prosecutors are former investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“This composition is considered strategic because its members have direct experience in handling complex corruption cases and understand well the high evidentiary standards required to bring a case to prosecution,” said Professor Romli in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Indeed, he continued, this should not be an ordinary prosecution. Romli specifically emphasised that the charges brought should not be light, but rather heavy charges proportionate to the gravity of the alleged criminal offences involving corruption and money laundering committed together.

According to him, these two serious crimes carry the potential for heavy sentences before the court.

For this reason, he stressed that transparency and accountability at every stage of the investigation are absolute requirements so that the case does not merely become a ‘legal spectacle’ without any certainty.

The nine investigators in question comprise: Inspectorate II at the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas) Agus Salim; Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutors’ Office (Kajati Sumut) Muhibuddin; Head of the Asset Recovery Fund Management and Confiscation Centre at the Attorney General’s Office Chatarina Muliana Girsang; and Inspectorate I at Jamwas Riyono.

They also include Secretary to the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) Agus Sahat; Director of Legal Considerations at the Deputy Attorney General for Civil and State Administrative Affairs (Jamdatun) Irene Putri; Deputy Head of the Banten High Prosecutors’ Office Rinaldi Umar; Director of Prosecution at the Deputy Attorney General for Military Crimes (Jampidmil) Zet Tadung Allo; and Director A at the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) Hari Wibowo.
