Expert Claims World War 3 Has Already Erupted, Many People Unaware

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - A number of experts opine that World War III has actually already begun at present. However, the situation is considered different and no longer the same as the patterns of previous world wars.

This time, the conflict is no longer in the form of open armed battles like in World War II, but occurs covertly and is dispersed in various different forms. This view was expressed, among others, by Dmitry Trenin. He is a researcher at the Russian Institute of World Economy and International Relations and a member of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC).

“World war has begun. It’s just that not everyone is aware of it,” Trenin stated in his latest analysis, first published by Profile magazine, as quoted by RT some time ago.

Trenin assesses that the pre-global war phase for Russia began in 2014, for China in 2017, and for Iran in 2023.

In his view, since then the world has entered a new chapter of increasingly intensive conflict. Its form is not merely a contest of military strength, but a comprehensive conflict that encompasses economic sabotage, social agitation, and the internal destabilisation of enemy countries.

Trenin also highlights the direct involvement of NATO countries, such as the United Kingdom and France, in attacks on Russian targets through their support for Ukraine. “Ukraine is just a tool. Brussels is preparing for a wider war,” he said.

He assesses that this global war is triggered by the West’s fear of the rise of new powers like Russia and China, which are seen as threats to Western geopolitical and ideological dominance.

“This is not just a geopolitical struggle, this is an existential war for the West. Globalism does not tolerate alternatives,” he stated.

Trenin urges Russia to no longer adopt a defensive stance. He emphasises the importance of smart national mobilisation, strengthening the technology, economy, and demographics sectors, as well as consolidating with strategic partners like Belarus and North Korea. In his analysis, the fragility in European Union unity should be a tactical opening for Russia.

He also mentions that the return of US President Donald Trump to the White House provides tactical space to reduce US military pressure on Russia, but warns that US foreign policy remains fundamentally confrontational.

In a sharper statement, Trenin even claims that if escalation cannot be avoided, then Russia must be prepared to carry out preemptive strikes, including with nuclear weapons if necessary.

“Prevention must be active. If needed, we must be ready to use special means with full awareness of the consequences,” he said.

According to him, victory in this conflict is not measured by territorial occupation, but by success in thwarting the enemy’s plans. He concludes his statement by affirming that the current war encompasses all fronts: from military to information narratives.

“The time for illusions is over. We are in a world war. The only way forward is through bold and strategic action,” Trenin concluded.
