Jakarta – Banking Law Expert and former Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK), Yunus Husein, has assessed that the alleged money laundering (TPPU) case implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, has strong indications. This assessment is based on a number of asset findings disclosed by authorities during the investigation process.

According to Yunus, there are several indicators commonly used in the analysis of alleged money laundering. One of the most prominent is the discrepancy between the value of assets owned by an individual and their economic profile or income.

"The indication of money laundering is quite strong. Firstly, the value of the assets owned is too large and does not match the suspect’s profile, resulting in an imbalance between wealth and profile," Yunus Husein told reporters on Saturday, 18 July 2026. The statement was made following the disclosure of various assets allegedly linked to the corruption and money laundering case currently being investigated by law enforcement.

In addition to the imbalance in wealth value, Yunus also highlighted the alleged storage of proceeds of crime in the form of anonymous assets. According to him, this practice is one of the methods frequently found in money laundering cases as it aims to conceal asset ownership. "The existence of anonymous assets is one of the modus operandi in money laundering crimes," he said.

He added that investigators also need to explore the possibility of assets being stored under the names of other parties or certain foundations. Although registered under the name of another person or institution, these assets are suspected to still be controlled by the actual owner as the beneficial owner. Yunus stated that this model of ownership is one of the patterns often found in tracing suspected money laundering.

Yunus also touched on the importance of wealth reporting in the process of proving a case. He questioned why, if the assets found were indeed personal property, all of the assets had not been reported in the State Officials’ Wealth Report (LHKPN) or the Annual Tax Return (SPT). "If these assets are indeed personal property, why were they not reported in the LHKPN or the Tax Return," he said.
