Expert Appreciates Prabowo's Firm Handling of Three Corruption Cases
Constitutional law expert Rullyandi has expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto regarding the handling of three alleged corruption cases involving the coal sector, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel, which were transferred from the police to the Attorney General’s Office. He believes the policy reflects firm leadership and demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the law enforcement process proceeds according to legal corridors.
“This step is a form of firm leadership and an effort to keep the law enforcement process running according to legal corridors,” Rullyandi said in a statement on Sunday (12/7/2026).
He assessed that the transfer of the case, which implicates former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah, was appropriate as it can prevent commotion and rivalry between law enforcement agencies. He noted that such conditions could potentially disrupt the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts if not managed properly.
“With centralised handling, the legal process is considered to be able to run more effectively, objectively, and smoothly,” he stated.
Furthermore, he believes Prabowo’s move reflects good governance through strengthening coordination and control over law enforcement officials so they work professionally, in a directed manner, and without generating wild issues in the public sphere. It also serves to maintain government stability.
“This step is also an effort to maintain government stability while ensuring the anti-corruption agenda runs optimally and achieves the expected goals,” he added.
Previously, the House of Representatives’ Commission III confirmed it would pay close attention to the legal process regarding the coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel corruption cases. Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stressed that the case involving Febrie relates to individuals rather than institutions.
“There are several things to announce. First, Commission III is taking the initiative to ensure that the cases widely reported can proceed within legal corridors and be thoroughly investigated legally,” Habiburokhman said during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Saturday (11/7).
Habiburokhman emphasised that his side would oversee the process to prevent any actions that exceed legal authority between law enforcement institutions during the investigation.
“Second, we also want to ensure there are no excesses, clashes, or friction between institutions regarding the handling of this case. Because this is a case related to individuals, to people, not to institutions,” he said.
