The Wuling Cortez Darion EV has emerged as a compelling electric vehicle option for families, offering impressive performance and power efficiency alongside its attractive design and features.

During a multi-day test drive in urban environments, the focus was placed on how the electric motor delivers power and how economical its energy consumption remains under dynamic road conditions. From the moment the accelerator is pressed, the Cortez Darim EV displays its true electric character, providing linear yet instant power delivery without the transmission delays or engine noise typical of conventional cars. According to manufacturer specifications, the Cortez Darion EV produces 201 hp and a maximum torque of 310 Nm.

Testing was conducted by simulating a daily commuter route. Based on the instrument cluster data, after travelling a total of 53.3 kilometres, an energy efficiency of 11.1 kWh/100 km, or 9 km/kWh, was recorded. The chosen route included a combination of clear roads and typical rush-hour traffic congestion. Throughout the test, the air conditioning remained active at a high temperature setting and Level 1 fan speed, providing sufficient cooling for the front-row passengers.

At an efficiency rate of 9 km/kWh, the 53.3 km journey consumed approximately 5.9 kWh of battery power. Based on current PLN Fast Charging (SPKLU) rates of approximately Rp 2,466 per kWh, the cost for this distance was only around Rp 14,500. This figure is significantly more efficient than conventional petrol MPVs in the same class, which typically require much higher fuel costs for the same distance in urban settings.

While Wuling claims the Cortez Darion EV, equipped with a 69.2 kWh battery, can achieve a range of 540 km, the test results suggest that at 9 km/kWh, the actual range could reach up to 622.8 km. However, it should be noted that power efficiency varies depending on driving style, driving mode, traffic conditions, load, tyre pressure, and other factors. Ultimately, the Wuling Cortez Darion EV successfully combines a spacious cabin with commendable power efficiency, proving that its battery and motor management system is highly efficient for daily use.
