Expedition Packages from Virgo Ship Discovered by Divers

A team of divers has discovered a number of items during the search mission for victims of the Virgo Transport 8 vessel. The majority of the items found consist of expedition packages.

Five sacks of goods were transported by two Indonesian Navy speedboats upon arrival at Trisakti Port, Banjarmim. Previously, these items had been transported by the KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

Field observations revealed 197 expedition delivery packages, nine flares, flare launching devices, life raft batteries, life raft lights, and a brown wallet containing an identity card (KTP). The identity card was identified as belonging to Siprianus Antonius Dewa from Ngada Regency, Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The packages remain wrapped in plastic and are in a wet condition.

The items are currently being secured at Trisakti Port, Banjarmasin, and will be handed over to the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to serve as additional evidence. The hundreds of items were found by Indonesian Navy divers at the seabed near the location where the Virgo ship sank.

“The diving team found evidence attached to the ship at the bottom of the sea; these items were brought here and will be handed over to the KNKT,” stated the Commander of the Banjarmasin Naval Base, Navy Colonel (P) Galih Nurna Putra.
