Expedition Package Warehouse Also Burns in Miami Warehousing Complex, West Jakarta

JAKARTA - Four warehouses caught fire in the Miami Warehousing complex, Kalideres, West Jakarta, on Monday (11/5/2026) evening.

RW 01 Chairman of Tegal Alur, Madi, confirmed that the fire location in the Miami Warehousing complex is dominated by storage and logistics distribution activities.

Initially, the fire was reported to have emerged from the area of a warehouse storing refrigerant, then spreading to the adjacent building.

The Miami Warehousing area is indeed one of the logistics activity centres in West Jakarta.

However, the majority of operating buildings are storage warehouses, not manufacturing factories.

After the fire grew from the refrigerant warehouse, it then spread to the plastic warehouse, cardboard warehouse, and expedition warehouse next to it.

“As far as I know, they are warehouses, storage. Not factories, then it spread to the plastic warehouse, cardboard warehouse, and expedition warehouse, the package warehouse,” said Madi.

In agreement, Iqbal (28), a resident living near the incident location, confirmed that the burned warehouse was a package storage warehouse belonging to an expedition company.

“As far as I and the residents here know, this is a package warehouse, an expedition, so there are lots of goods,” said Iqbal.

“For us, we just know it’s an expedition warehouse. But I leave in the morning and return at night, I don’t really know the activities during the day,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), Syaiful Kahfi, stated that the fire point is strongly suspected to have originated from the refrigerant warehouse before spreading to the adjacent warehouses.

“The temporary suspected cause is due to an electrical short circuit in the production machine in the refrigerant warehouse,” explained Syaiful.

Initially, workers in the warehouse were doing overtime work that night. Then, around 8:00 PM WIB, several explosion sounds were heard from the refrigerant warehouse.
