Expedition Entrepreneurs Protest Rising Air Cargo Tariffs, What's Happening?
The Indonesian Express, Post and Logistics Services Association (ASPERINDO) has voiced its objection to additional charges for air cargo services. The new fees consist of a Cargo and Post Security Inspection Service charge (JASPER/JASTER) of Rp700 per kilogram and a Cargo Handling Charge (SGHA) of Rp340 per kilogram.
DPP ASPERINDO Chairman Budiyanto Darmastono stated that the increase in these tariffs will severely impact the logistics business and subsequently affect small and medium enterprise (SME) partners who utilise these services. He explained that the additional charges will drive up shipping costs, which in turn will increase the selling prices of SME products and ultimately depress purchasing power.
Business owners have submitted their protests to various government institutions, including Danantara, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the House of Representatives (DPR RI), the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.
