PT Phoenix Resources International (PRI) has officially received approval to expand its bonded zone facility from the Kalimantan Timur Regional Customs Office (Kanwil Bea Cukai Kalbagtim) on Monday, 2 March 2026. The granting of this facility represents a strategic step in supporting the company’s business development and optimising production capacity for the enterprise operating in the East Kalimantan region.

Max Franky Karel Rori, Head of Customs and Excise Facilitation at Kanwil Bea Cukai Kalbagtim, stated that the bonded zone expansion approval was granted following a series of administrative checks and field readiness assessments to ensure the company meets criteria established in customs regulations.

“This step represents a genuine commitment by Customs in fulfilling its function as industrial assistance. With the bonded zone expansion, PT PRI is expected to manage the flow of capital goods and raw materials more smoothly, thereby increasing operational efficiency and product competitiveness in the global market,” he said.

Beyond stimulating company business growth, the expansion is projected to deliver positive impacts for the regional economy. “We anticipate that increased production activities in the bonded zone will absorb more labour and strengthen the industrial sector’s contribution to state revenues and economic growth in East Kalimantan,” said Max.

He also emphasised that despite providing various facilitation benefits, Kanwil Bea Cukai Kalbagtim will continue to exercise optimal oversight. This is to ensure that all customs activities within the expanded area comply with applicable legislation, maintaining the balance between providing facilitation and fulfilling compliance functions.
