Expanding to Bali, Pelita Harapan Group Broadens Education Ecosystem Rooted Locally with a Global Outlook

Pelita Harapan Group (PHG) is strengthening its commitment to advancing the education ecosystem in Bali through the grand launching of Sekolah Dian Harapan (SDH) Global Bali.

PHG President Dr. Stephanie Riady said SDH Global Bali is designed as an educational space with globally benchmarked academic quality.

“It is combined with character formation, potential development, and respect for the identity and environment in which students grow,” Stephanie said in a statement on Saturday, 29 August 2026.

She added that the school’s presence is also part of efforts to expand educational choices for families in Bali, amid the increasingly intensive interaction of local communities with technological, cultural and global community developments.

Stephanie said Bali has a distinctive context for educational development, because the openness of its people to the world goes hand in hand with the ability to preserve tradition and local identity.

“Every time I come to Bali, I always get a very strong impression. Bali has taksu, an extraordinary ability to embrace the world without losing itself. Here, tradition coexists with modernity,” she said.

Stephanie said this condition holds an important lesson for education, namely how to prepare children to become part of the world without making them lose their roots and identity.

This principle is increasingly relevant as technology and artificial intelligence develop rapidly and are able to take over various abilities previously thought to be exclusive to humans.

Therefore, according to Stephanie, today’s educational question is no longer limited to what children should know, but also what must remain a human strength as technology becomes smarter.

“The answer is character, wisdom, integrity, courage, empathy, the ability to distinguish right from wrong, and faith that provides direction for life,” Stephanie said.

“Intelligence alone is not enough. Education is not only about preparing children to achieve the best grades or enter the best universities. Education is the process of shaping human beings,” she said.
