Expanding Green Jobs Opportunities to Accelerate Energy Transition, Kadin Strengthens Collaboration with Ministry of Environment
Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) together with the Ministry of Environment (LH) is strengthening opportunities for cooperation in creating green jobs up to a just energy transition. This is being done as an effort to promote sustainable development and green industry.
Discussions related to these efforts were held by Kadin Indonesia General Chairman Anindya Bakrie and Environment Minister Jumhur Hidayat in Jakarta on Wednesday. Both parties discussed strengthening collaboration between the business world and the government to promote sustainable development, including green downstreaming and just energy transition or a fair energy transition.
Anindya Bakrie said that value-added industrialisation based on green principles can open up opportunities for green jobs while strengthening national energy resilience.
“We are talking about the environment now as the key to developing business amid global uncertainties. Why? If we can create industrialisation with added value and green, it can increase green jobs and support the government’s energy resilience programme,” said Anindya in Jakarta on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.
He said that Kadin Indonesia and the Ministry of LH have aligned visions in maintaining economic growth that still pays attention to environmental sustainability for future generations.
According to Anindya, the meeting also discussed opportunities to form a green jobs task force within Kadin Indonesia as well as cooperation related to a just energy transition.
“We are very enthusiastic because the Minister is comprehensive. From the environmental side, clearly, his industrialisation experience is strong, the technology is also significant, and he understands the workforce side. The discussion was very conducive,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jumhur Hidayat welcomed Kadin Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening understanding and concern for environmental issues. “I am pleased that Kadin is advancing in understanding environmental matters and it feels aligned with us. There are many possibilities for future cooperation, especially regarding green jobs and just energy transition,” said Jumhur.
He also appreciated Kadin’s attention to developing value-added industries that still comply with environmental standards. “In developing added value, compliance with the environment is also prepared. I think that’s good. It means that in the future, our civilisation can improve because before working and seeking profit, we also prepare ourselves in maintaining the environment,” he stated.
