Pangkalpinang (ANTARA) - The Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Supratman Andi Agtas, inaugurated 393 Legal Aid Posts (Pos Bantuan Hukum, Posbankum) at villages and sub-districts across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province to broaden access to justice for residents in the region.

“These Posbankum are solely aimed at providing access to justice for the public, so they can receive guidance, settlement of cases, and so disputes do not all end up in court,” said Supratman Andi Agtas when inaugurating the Posbankum across the Babel Islands in Pangkalpinang on Wednesday night.

He said the inauguration of 393 Posbankum across the Desa and Kelurahan across the Bangka Belitung Islands Province is part of the implementation of the Asta Cita mission of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to strengthen political, legal and bureaucratic reform through equal access to justice across all regions of Indonesia.

“It should have been held during the day, but suddenly there was a notification that the President delivered a speech at the DPR Plenary Session earlier this morning, hence the inauguration of the posbankum was held at night,” he said.

He urged governors, regents and mayors across the Bangka Belitung Islands to collaborate to synergise this Posbankum into a “Together” programme, so that people can more easily obtain legal aid services and resolution of cases.

“Good cases among the community, if they can be resolved through mediation, would be even better and would make the people a social conference in resolving cases,” he said.

The Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Hidayat Arsani, thanked the Minister of Law who personally inaugurated the village and sub-district posbankum in the region.

“Tonight we are proud because the Minister of Law personally came to inaugurate the posbankum in this region,” he said.

He hopes that the existence of these posbankum can bring peace to the people and reduce the burden on the courts in resolving people’s legal cases in this region.

“We fully support this programme and will immediately intensify socialisation of posbankum to all villages and sub-districts to realise the President’s aspiration of Prabowo Subianto to deliver justice that is evenly distributed to all corners of the country,” he said.
