Traffic congestion has begun to emerge on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on Saturday (14 March 2026) afternoon as travellers prepare for the Lebaran holiday marking Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. Vehicle flow from Jakarta towards Cikampek has steadily increased as the holiday exodus commences.

To mitigate mounting congestion, the Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas Polri) and PT Jasa Marga have activated a traffic management scheme involving a one-lane contraflow system towards Cikampek.

Rising Volume of Holiday Travellers

Thousands of vehicles, predominantly private cars, have congested the toll route from Jakarta towards Cikampek. The density has resulted in all four lanes of the toll road and the hard shoulder being occupied by holiday travellers.

This congested traffic situation has been observed around kilometre 55 in the Klari district, Karawang Regency, West Java.

Given the high vehicle volume, lengthy queues of vehicles have formed, particularly approaching the rest area at kilometre 57.

Contraflow System Activated

To ease traffic congestion, Korlantas Polri and Jasa Marga have implemented a one-lane contraflow system.

The traffic management measure is scheduled to operate from kilometre 55 to kilometre 65 on the Cikampek-bound carriageway.

Police authorities anticipate that vehicle volumes traversing the toll road will continue to rise in the coming days, particularly as the Lebaran holiday exodus reaches its peak.
