Approximately 14 per cent of vehicles, or around 285,000 units, were recorded as having departed Jakarta on the first day of Operation Ketupat 2026, according to data provided by PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. Jasa Marga’s Chief Executive, Rivan Achmad Purwantoro, stated that this figure represents part of the projected total of 3.5 million vehicles expected to leave Jakarta during this year’s Lebaran homecoming period.

According to his account, approximately 285,000 vehicles have departed Jakarta from the total projection of 3.5 million vehicles anticipated to undertake the homecoming journey. “Based on Jasa Marga’s projection of vehicle numbers, currently 14 per cent have departed Jakarta. This condition remains manageable without requiring traffic engineering interventions,” said Rivan at Jasa Marga’s Tollroad Command Centre in Bekasi, West Java.

Rivan explained that the majority of vehicles departing Jakarta are heading towards the eastern route via the Trans-Java toll network. Meanwhile, vehicle flows towards other regions such as Bandung or the southern Java route have not yet shown significant increases.

He noted that the distribution of vehicles would continue to be monitored over the coming days. He anticipated that vehicle movements would increase again over the weekend. “There remains a possibility that Saturday and Sunday will see increased vehicle movements,” he said.

Previously, Jasa Marga had projected that a total of 3.5 million vehicles would leave Jakarta during the Lebaran homecoming season. The peak exodus is predicted to occur on 18 March 2026, although vehicle movements have already become apparent since Friday (13 March).

Jasa Marga stated it would continue to monitor traffic flow developments across all toll sections it manages to ensure that homecoming travellers have a smooth and safe journey during the Lebaran period.

In supporting the exodus, Pertamina has prepared fuel supply infrastructure, with 309 petrol stations along potential routes operating 24 hours. An additional 59 mobile storage units have been positioned as reserve fuel supply stations. Fuel supply in the region is sourced from the Maos Fuel Terminal in Cilacap District. During the Satgas Rafi operation period, Pertamina is increasing fuel stock supplies by approximately 4 to 5 per cent.

PT Hutama Karya has held a mobilisation briefing for the 2026 Lebaran exodus as a step to strengthen operational readiness and services on the Trans-Sumatra route. The briefing held at the North Sumatra Regional Office marked the commencement of the 2026 Lebaran Transport Command Post, which runs from 13 to 30 March 2026.

Semarang’s General Ahmad Yani International Airport began operating an exodus command post from Friday (13 March) through Monday (30 March) due to anticipated increases in passenger numbers during the homecoming period.

Camera systems are increasingly being employed in transport vehicles such buses and trains, enabling operators to monitor activities from various angles in real-time. Inspection of the roadworthiness of Lebaran transport vehicles is being conducted at the Technical Implementation Unit for Vehicle Testing in Cimahi Municipality’s Department of Transportation.
