Exhumation of Sutrimo's Grave Begins, Forensic Experts Involved in Body Examination
The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has involved forensic experts in the exhumation of the body of Sutrimo, a man identified as the household manager (Karumga) of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah, in Wlahar Village, Wangon District, Banyumas Regency, on Wednesday (12/8).
Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the exhumation process began at around 09.30 WIB. He said the exhumation was carried out as part of the investigation process to obtain medical and scientific evidence to uncover the cause of the deceased’s death.
“Today’s exhumation is part of the investigation process. This activity was carried out through collaboration between Polda Metro Jaya, the Central Java Police, and the Banyumas Police,” Budi said in his statement on Wednesday.
Budi explained that the exhumation was carried out in three stages: the excavation of the grave, an external examination to confirm the identity of the body as requested by investigators, and an internal examination.
The examination involved a joint team from the Indonesian Association of Forensic and Medicolegal Doctors (PDFMI) from Jakarta, Central Java, and East Java. The team also included experts in forensic laboratory analysis, toxicology, DNA, and anatomical histopathology.
Meanwhile, PDFMI Chairperson Brigadier General Dr. dr. Sumy Hastry Purwanti said the involvement of various experts was necessary so that the examination could be carried out thoroughly and the results would have a strong scientific basis.
“In addition to forensic and medicolegal specialists, we involved experts in forensic laboratory analysis, toxicology, DNA, and anatomical histopathology. We are working thoroughly and comprehensively based on the results of medical and laboratory examinations,” she said.
Hastry said the forensic team also examined the condition of the grave, the type and contour of the soil, the size of the grave, and took soil samples from around the site. Samples from the body will also be examined in the laboratory to help determine the cause and manner of death.
“We cannot yet directly conclude the results of the examination because the samples taken still need to be analysed in the laboratory. This examination is expected to help clarify whether the death was natural or unnatural,” she said.
Previously, the family’s legal representative, Aan Rohaeni, said Sutrimo’s family would not directly witness the process of excavating Sutrimo’s grave.
“I am also a parent. Seeing a child slip and fall makes us tremble. Especially in a situation like this, it is certainly not easy,” he said when met by journalists at the cemetery complex, as reported by detikJateng on Tuesday (11/8) afternoon.
Aan said the reason the family did not directly witness the exhumation of Sutrimo’s body was because they felt they could not bear it. Instead, he would directly witness the exhumation process as a representative of Sutrimo’s family.
“Indeed, the family decided that their presence would only be represented by me. The reason the family did not come to witness is that they would not be able to bear it,” he added.
It is known that Sutrimo was found dead in front of the Mordent beauty clinic in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, some time ago.
His death became a question mark and drew media attention. This is because Sutrimo was initially identified as the household manager of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office, Febrie Adriansyah.
Later, the family acknowledged that Sutrimo did indeed work for Febrie. However, the family said they did not know what Sutrimo’s job was while working for Febrie.
