Exhumation of Sutrimo Finds No Signs of Violence, Police Await Toxicology Results

The mystery surrounding the death of Sutrimo remains unsolved after his grave was exhumed and his body examined by a forensic team. Initial findings indicate there were no visible injuries suggesting violence.

The forensic team found no signs of trauma from blunt or sharp objects on the body of the 42-year-old. However, this finding does not yet confirm the cause of death.

Head of the forensic team, Ahmad Yudianto, stated that further examination is required to scientifically determine the cause of death. ‘From the external and internal examinations, we visually found no signs of injuries caused by blunt or sharp force. Therefore, we are conducting further examinations by taking samples to ascertain the exact cause of death,’ Yudianto told reporters on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.

Dozens of samples were taken from Sutrimo’s body, including from the head, skin tissue, swabs, and internal organs such as the stomach and heart. These samples have been sent for toxicology, histopathology, and DNA testing.

‘Toxicology testing, which is to look for the presence of poison and other substances, will be carried out by the Forensic Laboratory Centre,’ he said. Toxicology testing is a crucial part of the investigation as police seek to determine whether any substances contributed to the death.

The forensic team also investigated reports that Sutrimo was found with foam coming from his mouth and nose. However, upon examination of the body, the foam was no longer present. ‘But we tried earlier, the laboratory team took swabs to see if there were any residues. We are waiting for the laboratory results, whether from toxicology, DNA, or histopathology examinations,’ Yudianto explained.

The condition of the body, which had been buried for nearly three weeks, posed a challenge for the forensic team. Consequently, the laboratory results are expected to take two to three weeks. The Metro Jaya Regional Police have confirmed they will not draw any conclusions regarding the cause of death based solely on today’s examination.
