Execution of State Land at Former Hotel Sultan Turns Chaotic, 69 Detained
The execution of a court order to vacate state assets in Blok 15 of the former Hotel Sultan area in Central Jakarta turned chaotic after a group of people resisted officers. A total of 69 individuals were detained, while 29 joint personnel sustained minor injuries during the security operation.
Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya Budi Hermanto stated that security was provided by 3,161 joint TNI and Polri personnel to ensure the court ruling was carried out safely and under control.
“During the execution of state property in Blok 15 of the former Hotel Sultan area, 3,161 personnel were deployed. This was a joint force from the TNI and Polri, Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya. The presence of officers was to ensure the execution process proceeded safely, peacefully, and in a controlled manner,” said Budi.
Prior to the execution, a court bailiff carried out the seizure stage with security assistance. The situation escalated when some members of the crowd began throwing objects and taking actions that endangered officers on the ground.
“After appeals were made, room was still given for negotiation. But the crowd threw objects and took actions that could disrupt public order and injure officers,” he said.
As a result of the incident, 29 officers suffered minor injuries. One TNI personnel sustained an injury to the temple. Additionally, two civilians were also reported injured during the execution and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Budi confirmed that officers detained 69 people suspected of obstructing the execution. This number may increase as investigations continue.
“Members of the public who try to obstruct the enforcement of a court ruling are not only breaking the law, but also violating the principle that court decisions with permanent legal force must be respected and implemented,” he stressed.
“This execution process went through professional, proportional, and accountable stages and procedures. We urge the public not to create or spread baseless rumours, because today’s execution is legally accountable,” he concluded.
