Execution of Hotel Sultan Land in GBK Proceeds Today, Thousands of Officers Deployed
The execution process for the land of Hotel Sultan, located in Block 15 of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area in Central Jakarta, is being carried out today, Thursday (18/6). The execution by the Central Jakarta District Court is proceeding despite rejection from PT Indobuildco, the hotel’s management company. On Wednesday (17/6), a group of people wearing blue gathered in front of Hotel Sultan, believed to be hotel workers protesting the eviction order. They unfurled banners expressing their rejection of the land clearance.
Kharis Sucipto, the legal representative for the Minister of State Secretary and the GBK Area Management Centre (PPKGBK), stated that coordination with various agencies had been completed to prepare for the execution. ‘The execution of the Block 15 eviction, as determined by the Central Jakarta District Court, is being carried out today, Thursday, 18 June 2026, with no changes or postponements. Technical preparations for the eviction have been made, particularly regarding security,’ he told reporters on Thursday.
Kharis explained that a notification letter regarding the execution from the Central Jakarta District Court had been sent to PT Indobuildco as the hotel manager. The letter urged Indobuildco, its occupants, or anyone deriving rights from the company to voluntarily vacate the land and buildings of Block 15, the former Hotel Sultan site. ‘Therefore, if Indobuildco or any occupants or parties inhabiting Block 15 are unwilling to vacate the execution object voluntarily, the execution will still proceed, and any resulting consequences will not be the responsibility of the Central Jakarta District Court,’ Kharis stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, confirmed that a total of 3,161 joint personnel have been deployed to secure the execution process. ‘For the security of the ex-Hotel Sultan execution, the number of security personnel is 3,161, consisting of a joint force from the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police, and the regional government,’ he said.
