Execution of Block 15, Former Hotel Sultan in GBK Complex, Marred by Clashes

The execution of Block 15, the former Hotel Sultan site in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6/2026) was marred by clashes between a group of sympathisers and security personnel. The execution of Block 15 was carried out pursuant to a ruling and decree from the Central Jakarta District Court concerning the land and buildings of the former Hotel Sultan located within the Gelora Bung Karno area. The land of the former Hotel Sultan is part of Management Right (HPL) Number 1/Gelora. The land is a state asset under the Ministry of State Secretariat c.q. the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK). Sympathisers rejecting the execution were involved in scuffles with security forces, and banners opposing the execution were displayed at the site. Officers conducted an asset inventory during the operation, while security personnel remained on guard and assisted an injured individual.
