Exciting Moment of Finance Minister Purbaya Attending Son's Graduation Draws Attention

On Saturday, February 14, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa was seen attending his son’s graduation ceremony at the University of Indonesia. Purbaya looked dapper in a black pinstriped suit paired with a blue shirt and matching tie.

On his TikTok account @Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, he appeared beaming with joy at the event. He also cracked a joke about his appearance at the time.

“Do I look like a college student yet?” Purbaya asked his staff. “Gen Z, sir,” his staff replied. “Haha, Gen Z,” Purbaya said.

He was not alone — Purbaya was accompanied by his wife, Ida Yulidina, at the event. Ida looked stunning in a striking red kebaya paired with a floral-patterned skirt.

“Last Saturday (2/14/26), I attended the University of Indonesia Graduation Ceremony. I was there not only as the Finance Minister but also as a parent of a graduating student. My eldest son, Yuda Purboyo Sunu, was also among the graduates from the Mechanical Engineering Program,” Purbaya wrote on his TikTok account.

The couple was seen holding hands tightly as they entered the UI Balairung hall. Beyond attending as a graduate’s parent, the Finance Minister also delivered remarks before the graduates that day.

In his speech, Purbaya congratulated the graduates. He also touched on the sacrifices their parents made to see their children through to university graduation.

“I’m sure all of you graduated today through hard work. To the graduates — what you may feel today is the result of years of hard work. But what you may not realize is that behind it all, there is the struggle of your parents. They worked tirelessly, some perhaps toiling relentlessly, turning themselves upside down to fund your education. What’s certain is that it is because of their effort and prayers that all of you are in the position you are today, graduating from the University of Indonesia,” Purbaya said in his remarks.
