Excessive Heat Causes Bogor Charcoal Briquette Factory Fire
BOGOR - A charcoal briquette factory burned in Kayu Manis, Bogor City, on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at 5:00 AM WIB.
Bogor City Fire and Rescue Department’s Head of Fire Suppression and Rescue, Mohammad Ade Nugraha, explained that the fire was suspected to be caused by excessively high grill temperatures.
“The initial cause of the fire, according to the report, was due to excessively high grill temperatures, causing the briquettes to become too dry and ignite,” Ade stated when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze without any difficulties.
Authorities confirmed no casualties.
Ade said the incident is estimated to have caused losses of hundreds of millions of rupiah.
“The total loss is estimated at approximately Rp 500 million,” he added.
