Exam leak a crime: Police

JAKARTA (JP): A senior city police officer classified the selling of the nation-wide examination transcripts as a crime and urged the related offices to report the case to the police so that it could be traced thoroughly.

So far, the police have yet to receive any reports over the selling of test transcripts of senior high school students across the country on Monday, spokesman Lt. Col. Zainuri Lubis said on Saturday.

It was reported earlier that officials of the ministry of national education's Jakarta office had filed a report on the case with the Jakarta Police on Friday.

"City police haven't received any report on the problem," Zainuri was quoted as saying by Antara.

According to him, those taking part in the cheating could be accused of conducting a criminal act of abusing one's authority and of leaking a classified document.

Chairman of Jakarta Examination Committee, Sulaeman Hariadi, told reporters that the ministry's Jakarta office had filed a report to city police on Friday over the alleged use of unauthorized test copies.

It was also reported that the ministry had formed a team with police detectives to investigate the situation. (nvn)
