Ex-Wife Uncovered as Mastermind Behind Contract Killing of South Korean National in Bekasi
The investigation into the death of a South Korean national, identified by the initials BS (66), has been resolved. It has been revealed that BS was murdered by an individual hired by his former wife, SJ.
In addition to SJ, the police have also arrested HW, the executor of the murder. The victim was found covered in blood at his residence in Tambun, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (27/5). Police revealed that SJ acted as the mastermind, orchestrating the killing and hiring HW to carry out the act.
“Based on the results of the examination, suspect SJ is alleged to have played the role of the party who planned and ordered the murder of the victim,” stated Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Sumarni, in a statement to journalists on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
The victim was first discovered by his daughter, QAS, who subsequently reported the case to the Bekasi Metro Police. The victim is believed to have sustained injuries from blunt force trauma and sharp weapons. The body was taken to a hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. In handling the case, the police also coordinated with the South Korean Embassy in Jakarta.
The two suspects face charges under Articles 459 and 258 of the 2023 Criminal Code (KUHP), carrying a potential sentence of life imprisonment or a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Triggered by Domestic Conflict
Police revealed that the murder was likely triggered by domestic conflict. During interrogation, SJ admitted to having a long-standing dispute with her former husband. “From further examination, investigators found that the motive for suspect SJ was allegedly driven by resentment and a long-standing conflict with the victim,” said Sumarni.
Police also uncovered that SJ murdered BS to seize his wealth. She subsequently hired the assassin, HW, who has also been named a suspect. “The suspect also allegedly had the desire to control the victim’s assets. Meanwhile, suspect HW admitted to accepting the offer due to economic and financial pressures,” she added.
Rp 139 Million Contract Killing
Investigations show that SJ hired HW to execute the victim, promising hundreds of millions of rupiah to kill her former husband. “The investigation also revealed that suspect SJ provided a total payment of Rp 139 million to suspect HW, delivered in stages, to carry out the murder,” said Sumarni.
Planned Since 2025
The assassin, HW, was working in the Bekasi area. HW confessed to carrying out the murder under SJ’s orders, admitting that the killing had been planned since late 2025. HW stated he accepted the Rp 139 million offer due to dire economic needs and had monitored the victim’s activities several times before the attack on Wednesday (27/5).
Executor Destroyed Evidence
HW approached the victim’s house wearing clothing and gear designed to disguise his identity. Upon entering the house, the victim, who was in the dining room, confronted the perpetrator. However, HW quickly attacked, repeatedly stabbing the victim in the left abdomen with a knife before striking the back of the victim’s head with a heavy object, causing death at the scene.
After the murder, HW stole several items, including a laptop, a CCTV DVR unit, and the victim’s ATM cards, later handing the ATM cards to SJ. HW then disposed of the laptop and DVR in the Kalimalang River to destroy evidence and burned clothing and equipment used during the crime to eliminate any remaining traces.
