Ex-Wife of Police Officer Dies from Gunshot in Medan, Family Reveals Series of Irregularities

The biological father of WLG, Sanalu Gowasa, has revealed a number of irregularities surrounding the death of his daughter, the former wife of Medan Polrestabes officer Brigadier IH, who died from a police-issued firearm.

WLG (35) was found dead, covered in blood, in the bathroom of Brigadier IH’s home at Bumi Asri Housing Complex, Jalan Pondok Kelapa, Medan Helvetia District, Medan City, on Sunday afternoon, 2 August 2026, at around 5 p.m. local time.

Sanalu Gowasa explained that the family only learned of the death from police officers on Monday, 3 August 2026. The family believes there are several irregularities in the condition of the body. Police stated that the victim died by suicide using her ex-husband’s firearm.

Sanalu Gowasa said he was told that the victim did not die from a gunshot wound, but rather from heart disease, after undergoing treatment at Bhayangkara Hospital Medan for the past week.

“I asked, wasn’t my daughter still in Jakarta? Her sibling said that she had been picked up by her in-laws to go to Medan,” Sanalu Gowasa told reporters, as quoted on Thursday, 6 August 2026.

After receiving information that his daughter had died, Sanalu Gowasa said the family immediately went to Bhayangkara Hospital Medan. He said he was not allowed to see the body and was told he needed permission from Medan Helvetia Police Station.

After returning to the hospital, Sanalu was finally allowed to see his daughter’s body the following day. He was shocked by the condition of her body.

“I was shocked because in my opinion this was not a death from illness. At that time I was only shown the face and I saw that my daughter’s face was bruised,” Sanalu Gowasa explained.

Seeing that his daughter’s death was suspected to be unnatural, Sanalu said he does not accept the conclusion that his daughter allegedly died by suicide using a pistol. According to him, the condition of the body he saw did not match that allegation.

“There is a hole in the head, but I suspect it is not a bullet wound. There are stitches there. Her hair was also not burnt,” Sanalu Gowasa revealed.

Sanalu also said he saw bruises on the neck and several parts of the victim’s body. Based on these conditions, the family suspects the victim suffered abuse before her death.

“We do not accept that my daughter is said to have died by suicide. We suspect there was abuse,” he said.
