Ex-Sleman Regent's Son Raudi Akmal Named Corruption Suspect, Detained
The Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office has named district council member Raudi Akmal as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption involving tourism grants in Sleman Regency for the 2020 fiscal year. Raudi was immediately detained and taken to the Class II A Detention Centre in Yogyakarta, also known as Wirogunan Prison, on Monday evening.
The determination of the son of former Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo as a suspect was announced directly by Sleman Chief Prosecutor Bambang Yuniarto. Raudi was named a suspect after twice failing to appear for questioning by investigators. He only attended the third summons, at which point investigators immediately elevated his status.
“Today, Monday, 22 June 2026, investigators from the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office have elevated the status of a witness and named him a suspect in the development of a case of alleged corruption involving irregularities in the management of tourism grant funds in Sleman Regency in 2020,” Bambang told reporters at the Sleman Prosecutor’s Office on Monday evening.
“The individual is a witness with the initials RA. I repeat, a witness with the initials RA, who is a member of the Sleman Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 and 2024-2029 periods,” he continued.
Bambang explained that in 2020, Sleman Regency received a grant of Rp 68 billion from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance for handling the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. The grant was regulated under Minister of Finance Regulation No. 46/PMK.07/2020 and Decree of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy No. KM/694/PL.07.02/M-K/2020, which was amended by Decree No. KM/704/PL.07.02/M-K/2020 concerning Technical Guidelines for Tourism Grants in the context of National Economic Recovery for the 2020 Fiscal Year.
“From the development of the investigation conducted by the Sleman Prosecutor’s Office team, active actions by suspect RA were found in the management of the 2020 Tourism Grant Funds,” he stated.
Bambang said Raudi’s role involved conditioning proposals from community groups. “Namely by conditioning proposals from community groups as grant recipients, which were subsequently determined through a Sleman Regent Decree,” he said.
He added that the actions were carried out jointly with Sri Purnomo. The suspect’s actions resulted in state financial losses. Based on an audit report calculating state financial losses from the BPKP Representative Office of DIY, the state loss amounted to Rp 10.9 billion.
“The actions of suspect RA were carried out together with defendant Sri Purnomo,” he stressed.
The prosecutor’s office detained Raudi on Monday evening based on Detention Order Number PRINT-01/M.4.11/Fd.2/06/2026, issued by the Head of the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office on 22 June 2026. “Subsequently, suspect RA has been detained for the next 20 days at the Class II A Detention Centre in Yogyakarta,” he said.
Raudi is charged under the primary indictment of Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption. The subsidiary indictment cites Article 604 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001.
According to monitoring by detikJogja, Raudi had been undergoing examination by prosecutors from the afternoon until the evening. He was escorted out of the Sleman Prosecutor’s Office to a detention vehicle around 7:40 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, wearing an orange vest and handcuffs. He was guarded by TNI personnel and prosecutors, and accompanied by his legal counsel in the detention vehicle.
“We all know that the Yogyakarta District Court’s ruling stated there was no involvement on my part. So, yes, we want to face this with justice,” Raudi said as he was led to the detention vehicle.
