Ex-mayor detained for corruption

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: The provincial prosecutor's office has
questioned 13 people in relation to the case it was building
against former Banda Aceh mayor and two other officials for
corruption at the local water company.

Antara quoted chief prosecutor Bachtiar Fachri Nasution as
saying that he now had ample evidence to try the three.

The alleged corruption caused Rp 250 million in losses to the
state, he said.

The team has also been probing alleged irregularities in the
construction of a sports stadium in the provincial capital. He
called on the public to report to his office's PO Box 777
concerning corruption and nepotistic practices. (rms)
