Ex-Israeli PM Reveals Cunning Tactic to Destroy Iran from Within
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has revealed a covert Israeli tactic to ‘destroy’ Iran from within. Speaking at the JNS International Policy Conference in Jerusalem on Tuesday, Bennett admitted that Israel deliberately smuggled Starlink satellite internet devices into Iran to assist anti-government protest groups. However, he claimed that current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to follow through on the plan to achieve the desired impact. Bennett, who served as premier from 2021 to 2022, said he initiated the purchase and smuggling of thousands of Starlink devices into Iran to secure access to social networks and the internet. Starlink, a service under Elon Musk’s SpaceX, enables satellite-based internet flow that can reach remote areas and countries where internet access is deliberately restricted by the government. Iran has previously accused Israel and the United States of smuggling such devices to undermine its security. Starlink does not have a licence to operate in Iran, but Musk has previously stated the service is active there. Bennett said the devices were intended to allow protesters to coordinate and ultimately overthrow the Iranian government. ‘Unfortunately, the current incompetent Israeli government stopped doing that,’ he said, adding that when protests occurred, the infrastructure was not in place. Netanyahu’s office did not immediately respond to questions about Bennett’s statements, and SpaceX could not be reached for comment outside US business hours. Iranian authorities have shut down public internet access during periods of unrest, including deadly nationwide protests in January 2026 and during the US-Israeli war with Iran that began in late February 2026. Reuters has previously reported that some Iranians turned to Starlink during internet blackouts. Bennett, a right-wing party leader and one of several opposition politicians vying to replace Netanyahu in elections due by October, said Israel and other Middle Eastern nations need to ‘band together to reject and ultimately overthrow’ the Iranian government. ‘This is a rotten, old, disconnected, and incompetent regime, and it will fall like the Soviet Union fell,’ he said to applause.
