Ex-Davis Cuppers join selection

JAKARTA (JP): Former Davis Cuppers Suwandi, Edy Kusdaryanto
and Donny Susetyo confirmed yesterday their participation in a
national selection tournament scheduled for Nov. 7 to Nov. 9.

The three players, who missed the initial tournament last June
due to their tight schedules clashing with the event, will join
the other 13 players vying for the eight berths in the promotion
matches against the elite group of eight.

Andrian Raturandang headed the list of "Super Eight" after
winning the June selection tournament. The elite group's top
four, comprising Andrian, Sebastian da Costa, Bonit Wiryawan and
Sulistyo Wibowo were the toasted nationwide after beating Taiwan
3-2 in a deciding Davis Cup zone match in Taipei last month.

Veteran Dede Suhendar and three juniors, Djanuar Radjab, Febi
Widhiyanto and Samsudin Pare, are the other members of the elite
team.

Former national number one Suwandi is the strongest candidate
to qualify for the promotion tournament in December. (yan)
