Ex-cricket star Kapil Dev is in town

JAKARTA: Former world cricketer Ramlal Nikhanj Kapil Dev of India will hold several activities organized by the Indonesian Cricket Foundation (ICF) to promote the sport here.

"Kapil Dev will be our guest of honor at our gala dinner at the Mercantile Club on Saturday," ICF administrator Deniz Ramis told The Jakarta Post recently.

"He will also give a coaching clinic to young cricketers at the Cibubur cricket ground," he added.

The former Indian captain is one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of cricket, and the only cricketer to have scored 5000 runs and taken 400 wickets in Tests.

Kapil Dev also led India to a win at the Cricket World Cup in 1983. -- JP
