Ex-Campaign Team Member of Langkat Regent Secures 85 Projects Worth IDR 10.2 Billion
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that Yaqub Abdhal Al Mu’arif (YQB), a former member of the campaign team for Langkat Regent Syah Afandin (SAF) during the 2024 Regional Election, secured 85 projects within the Langkat Regency Government worth IDR 10.2 billion.
“In 2025, YQB, a private party and former campaign team member for SAF during the Pilkada, obtained work packages in the Langkat Education Office and the Housing and Settlement Area Office (Perkim) through a direct procurement method,” said Acting Director of KPK Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta, quoted on Saturday, 4 July 2026.
Taufik detailed that the 85 projects consisted of 80 work packages at the Langkat Education Office valued at IDR 9.5 billion, and five work packages at the Langkat Perkim Office worth IDR 748 million.
However, he stated that Yaqub was required to provide a reward for the acquisition of these dozens of projects to Syah Afandin, also known as Ondim. According to him, Ondim requested a 10 percent kickback for the Education Office projects and 17 percent for the Perkim Office projects.
Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Langkat, Binjai, and Medan, North Sumatra, on 2 July 2026. During the operation, the KPK arrested Ondim, a civil servant in the Langkat Regency, and five individuals from the private sector.
On 3 July 2026, the KPK named Ondim and his former campaign team member from the 2024 election, Yaqub Abdhal Al Mu’arif, as suspects in a case of alleged bribery related to projects within the Langkat Regency Government for the 2025-2026 period. Ondim is suspected of receiving a bribe of IDR 800 million from Yaqub out of a total agreed amount of IDR 1.117 billion.
