Ex-BI directors now in Cipinang

JAKARTA: Three former directors of Bank Indonesia were delivered to the Cipinang penitentiary, East Jakarta, late on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court has recently delivered 18-month jail sentences to the three: Paul Sutopo, Heru Supraptomo, and Hendrobudiyanto for their role in the channeling of billions of dollars worth of the central bank liquidity support facility to the ailing bank in the wake of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, causing massive losses to the state.

The three were each fined Rp 20 million. -- Antara
