Tehran, Iran — Iran decided to suspend all peace negotiation processes with the United States on Monday (1/6/2026). According to reports from Tasnim, this decision by Tehran serves as a form of protest against violations of ceasefire agreements, specifically referring to Israeli aggression against resistance fronts in Gaza and Lebanon.

Iranian officials and negotiators emphasised that their primary demands include the immediate cessation of brutal operations by the Zionist regime in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories in Lebanon. Tehran asserted that no further talks will occur until Iran and its resistance allies agree on a response to these demands.

Referring to Israel, Tasnim reported, “Considering the ongoing crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon, and noting that Lebanon is a prerequisite for a ceasefire—and that this ceasefire has been violated on all fronts, including Lebanon—the Iranian negotiating team has currently halted negotiations and the exchange of texts through mediators.”

The report further stated that Iran demands an end to “aggressive and brutal military operations in Gaza and Lebanon” and urges the “complete withdrawal of Israel from occupied territories in Lebanon.”

Iran’s central military command, Khatam al-Anbiya, also issued a warning to all citizens in northern Israel to immediately leave their homes if Israel carries out its threat to attack the southern outskirts of Beirut, an area known as a stronghold for Hezbollah fighters. In a statement broadcast by the government news service IRNA, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters stated that the warning was a response to the forced displacement orders issued by the Israeli military in Dahiyeh, Lebanon.

Hours after Tehran’s stern warning, US President Donald Trump announced via his Truth Social account that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ensured that Israel would not bomb Beirut. Trump also claimed to have contacted Hezbollah leadership, requesting them to cease firing upon Israel and its military.

Trump subsequently added, “Negotiations are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran.” As of yet, Iran has not responded to Trump’s claim regarding the resumption of peace talks.

Via his official X account, Netanyahu confirmed his conversation with Trump. However, he maintained that Israel will continue to bomb Beirut if Hezbollah does not cease attacking cities and civilians in northern Israel. “I spoke with President Trump this evening and told him that if Hezbollah does not stop attacking our cities and our citizens—Israel will attack terrorist targets in Beirut. Our position remains unchanged. Simultaneously, the IDF will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon.”
