Evidence from Sting Operation Against Muara Enim Regent Includes Hundreds of Millions in Cash

The Corruption Eradancy Commission (KPK) has announced that the evidence seized during the sting operation (OTT) involving the Regent of Muara Enim, South Sumatra, H. Edison, consists of hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash. “Regarding the evidence, so far it has been reported that there is cash amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the commission’s office in Jakarta on Monday night.

The KPK arrested a total of ten people during the operation conducted in Jakarta and South Sumatra between 7-8 June 2026. Five of the detainees are from the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the Regent, while the other five are from the private sector.

Some of those caught in the act are currently undergoing interrogation at the South Sumatra Regional Police, while others have been brought to the KPK’s Dwiwarna building. “As for the Regent, he was one of the individuals detained in the South Sumatra region. He is currently being interrogated at the South Sumatra Regional Police,” said Budi.

He explained that the sting operation is related to allegations of bribes received by state officials within the Muara Enim Regency Government from private parties concerning procurement projects. “An exposé will be conducted tonight. We will then see the presentation, the construction of the case, the roles of the parties allegedly involved, and the specific articles of the law that will be applied,” Budi added.
