Every Hair on the Sacrificed Animal Brings Reward

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Qurban is one of the acts of worship prescribed in Islam. Performing the sacrifice can bring the doer closer to Allah, for it is a form of sincere submission to Him.

The meat of the sacrifice and its blood do not reach Allah; what reaches Him is your taqwa. (Qur’an, Surah al-Hajj, 37)

The Qur’anic verse (Surah al-Hajj 37) says: ‘The flesh of the sacrifice and its blood do not reach Allah, but only your taqwa reaches Him.’

Especially at the moment of Eid al-Adha, the qurban has special virtue. The person who sacrifices will receive multiplied rewards. In fact, every hair of the sacrificed animal will be a good deed for the owner of the Qur’an.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated: “Every hair is a good deed.” The companions asked, “And the wool?” He replied, “With every hair of the wool there is a good deed” (reported by Ibnu Majah and Hakim).

Therefore, for a Muslim who has the means, it is incumbent to perform the qurban. Do not delay when Allah Ta’ala has expanded one’s sustenance to the point of being able to perform a sacrifice, only to choose not to. Such conduct, in truth, signals a stingy disposition.
